The Hottest Trends of Summer — 2015

With the first days of summer having just passed us by, you may be wondering what looks you should be sporting this season. After scouring countless online publishings and magazines, we’ve pulled together the top trends you’ll be sure to love for both hair and makeup.

So let’s dive right in.

The Wet Look

Also known as the handsome trend, this look takes a leaf out of the most suave gentleman’s book. Slicked back, wet looking hair is all the rage, and gives an incredibly sleek, chic look. Plus it makes styling your hair after the beach or the pool a breeze.

Try using Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Primer for UV protection and shine. Don’t blow dry your hair, that way you won’t lose the wet look, and finish with Surf Infusion for texture and added shine.

Rock the Middle Part

Calling your inner hippie! The middle part is back and stronger than ever. A middle part makes your facial features more bold, and what better time to be bold than in the heat of summer? Half up half down ‘dos with center parts are also incredibly popular this summer, and get unwanted strands out of your face.

To make parting your hair easier, spray on Bumble and Bumble’s Tonic Lotion, followed by their Blow Dry Cream for heat protection and hold. Blow dry your hair as desired, and add in some Invisible Oil for shine and UV protection. Finish with Bumble and Bumble Does It All Hairspray to tame flyaways.

Dust off Your Crimper

Now’s the time to break out that crimper that’s been sitting untouched since middle school. We’re not talking all over crimp, but random sections of hair being crimped to add in a unique texture. Try sweeping partially crimped hair into a low pony for an undone, yet chic look.

Use the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil for heat, UV, and humidity protection. Use some Spray De’ Mode for hold and to enhance the texture. Once you’re crimped, finish the look with Dryspun Finish for added texture and hold.

Texture, Texture, Texture

Use ocean salt and pool chlorine to your advantage. Your hair is already baking out in the sun, so give it a break from your straightener and opt for a texturizing, sea salt spray instead. Forego the blow dryer too; air-dried hair has more wave than blow-dried hair.

To prep your hair in the shower, use Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo and Conditioner for wave and texture. Towel dry your hair and spritz with Surf Infusion for texture and a healthy shine.

Play with Braids and Twists

Braids are a great way to get your hair out of your face in the summer heat, and look cute and beachy. Experiment with braided or twisted updos, and get your hair up off of your neck as well. The best part? When you take it down you’ll be left with a ton of texture to work with the next day.

To ensure your braids hold and have texture and grip, spritz hair with Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish and Does It All Hairspray.

Try a Triangle Part

A triangle part? Yes. A triangle part. It’s the edgier cousin of the middle part, and certainly not for the faint of heart.

Try using some of the Bumble and Bumble Tonic Lotion to detangle your hair and make it easier to part.

Bold Liner

Bold liner isn’t just for your upper lash line anymore. Apply a bold line on your lower lash line to create an edgy look (use liquid liner for a crisper line). Be sure too keep the rest of your makeup fairly minimal if you don’t want to look too over the top, and use waterproof formulas to ensure you don’t end up looking like a raccoon.

Bright Blue Eyes

Whether it be with liner or shadow, bright blue eye looks will bring a pop of color to your face. Keep it simple or make it dramatic, either way, all eyes will be on you.

Colorful Smokey Eyes

Piggy-backing off of bright blue eyes, try a colorful smoky eye this summer. You could use an array of colors or just stick to one color family. It is bright and fun and the colors pop on bronzed, glowy skin.

True Nude Lips

Try using a lipstick that’s the exact same color as your skin. It provides an incredibly fresh-faced look, plus you don’t have to worry about smudging in the summer heat.

Plum Hued Lips

If nudes aren’t your thing, try some different shades of plum. Dark tones aren’t just for cooler months anymore. Wine toned lips look great on sun kissed skin, and look just as great on fairer complexions. Use a liner to keep your color lasting all day, or opt for a liquid to matte formula that won’t budge — even if the rest of your makeup does.

If you love to keep up with current trends, or just want to change up your look, implementing any of the suggestions mentioned above will ensure you’re current and in style.
